In past columns, I’ve discussed how the Red River RC Flyers in Grand Forks, North Dakota, has worked hard for several years with the Alerus Center to give the club access to this amazing space. The club puts together an annual Indoor event to share that wealth. This year’s International Indoor flying event was held in January. As the name implies, interested Indoor fliers come from quite far to make use of this space.

A huge congratulationsto Todd Reynolds and Jack Murphy, both members of the Magnificent Mountain Men Free Flight Club of Colorado, who will represent the US on the FAI 2025 World Championship teams in F1C and F1Q events, respectively, in Romania.

Many of you have sent me pictures of your AeroScouts. This diminutive airplane has become the go-to fun-fly airplane. In fact, I drank that Kool-Aid and have one that I have modified to be a little more agile.
For the small investment, it turns out to be a whole lot of fun. Among my friends, one of our most enjoyable exercises is a group flight where we climb and glide. We climb on throttle for approximately 20 to 30 seconds and glide down for as long as possible.
Repeating the process several times, we can get more than 30 minutes on a 2,200 mAh battery. We’ve turned it into a competition for bragging rights, with many of the pilots in our group getting 35 minutes, and one topping 37 minutes!
I’ve already found some of you out there who appreciate the simplicity and pure fun of the AeroScout. I’ve opened a thread on the District IX Facebook page to give you an opportunity to share your favorite pictures and videos.

Please take the time to share your AeroScout adventures. I’ll put a few of those with the best custom paint jobs and the best climb-and-glide times you can get in the column in the upcoming months.
