Hi all! Happy New Year!
First, I want to announce that the 2025 AMA Northwest Jamboree is back at the Red Apple Flyers Field in East Wenatchee, Washington, on June 20-22! This is our event, and I want to make it larger than ever. We will have all types of RC flying, Control Line demonstrations, flying times, new product demonstrations, lots of on-site camping, a trunk swap, and more. Mark your calendars and don’t miss this fun event!
Here’s a submission from Ron Morrison:
On August 28 through September 1, the 10th Anniversary Huckfest was hosted by the Miniature Aircraft Association at Higgins Field in the Tri-Cities in Washington State. Making this event special and an incredible spectacle was the King of Freestyle competition that was held during the Huckfest.
This intense competition drew some of the best Freestyle pilots from across the country. We also had one entry from Germany. We were scheduled to have three from Israel, but they had to cancel because of unrest in their home country.
Forty-seven pilots attended, and seven competed, in the King of Freestyle competition. These competitors were vying for not only bragging rights but also trophies, a crown, and a check for $5,000. It was five days of incredible flying, not only by the competitors but also by many skilled pilots from across the country.

This is from Associate Vice President David Agar:
I attended the Portland Sky Knights short takeoff and landing (STOL) event and had a great time. There were three competition classes: Expert, Sportsman, and Novice. The event had some timed events, some taxiing events, and, of course, the STOL competition.
The competition was topped off with a barbecue and some great hamburgers. Yours truly placed third in the Sportsman class, which was not bad, considering there were only three in the Sportsman class. The good news is that I will not have to move up a class next year. It was a fun time with some great people, which is what our hobby is all about.

That’s all for this month. We are in the heart of building season. Send me pictures of your projects and tell me something about it. It might end up in this article.
Keep building and flying!
