April 2025 - District X

In late January, when the weather was perfect in the Southwest, the Sun Valley Fliers Field in Cave Creek, Arizona, became the prime site of the model aviation community, hosting the annual Winter Warbirds event.

This exciting gathering brought together RC enthusiasts, pilots, and spectators to celebrate a love for historic aircraft and aviation craftsmanship. With its expansive flying field and a welcoming atmosphere, the Sun Valley Fliers provided the perfect backdrop for highlighting a wide range of meticulously built warbird models, from iconic World War I aircraft and World War II fighters to modern military aircraft.

What made this event stand out was not only the incredible variety of aircraft but also the community spirit that permeated throughout the weekend. Pilots demonstrated their skills in both static displays and in-flight demonstrations, pushing their aircraft to new heights, while sharing knowledge about aircraft construction and flying techniques.

Many of the warbirds featured realistic detailing, offering a glimpse into aviation history while showcasing the hobbyist’s dedication to the craft.

As always, the event fostered a sense of camaraderie, with pilots exchanging tips and offering support to one another, making it clear that the Winter Warbirds event is as much about community as it is about the airplanes themselves. Spectators were treated to a rare opportunity to see these impressive aircraft in action, adding to the excitement of the event.

The success of Winter Warbirds 2025 reaffirms the continued popularity of model aviation and the passionate community that surrounds it. Looking ahead, the Sun Valley Fliers are already planning for next year’s event, with the hope of bringing together even more pilots, enthusiasts, and spectators for another unforgettable weekend of flying and fun.

Enjoy everything you build and fly.
