On February 8, 2025,I attended the 13th Annual Atoms RC’ers Swap Meet, at the Hillsborough Municipal building, located at 379 South Branch Road in Hillsborough, New Jersey. The event has always proved to be popular and successful for modelers.
The Atoms Swap Meet draws modelers from as far away as Pennsylvania, New England, Long Island, Maryland, and even from Plattsburgh, New York, at the Canadian border. Like other events, the Atoms Swap Meet provides an opportunity to reconnect with fellow modelers and make new friends.

As mentioned in previous columns, swap meets and virtually any other type of buying, flying, meeting, or other club activities are as much about socializing as they are about our aircraft. On a calm day at the average club field, modelers will sit and talk between flights about not just their favorite aircraft, but also about their lives, their families, their club, and all sorts of topics that make connections between people. AMA members and clubs are a network of friends. Model aircraft is the glue that binds us together.

The Atoms RC’ers appreciate the vital importance of being known as a contributing community organization, as do other clubs. The swap meet helps provide funds for the Hillsborough Community Assistance Network Foodbank. Such community contributions boost the club’s reputation of not just being a model aircraft club, but also being a social organization that supports the community. And it’s the right thing to do!
A note to all:My email address has changed. The new address is [email protected]. Always feel free to drop me a line.
Remember, it’s not about what you fly, it’s about the friends you make.
