April 2025 - District I

The following report came from another of our talented team of active Associate Vice Presidents, Jim Cyr: Welcome Champlain Valley Flyers (CVF) to District I. The district officers and members are looking forward to your club’s activities and events that some of us have had the pleasure of attending during your 23 years at your Crown Point, New York, site. Congratulations on acquiring the use of a new site from a sixth-generation landowner, Ed Peet, who just happened to have an airfield on his property in Vermont (District I).

I attended your inaugural, four-day Valley of the Giants event at the new site in July, and the Warbirds Over Cornwall event in August 2024. I and others were blown away by the airfield. Its open and unobstructed space, enormous size, picturesque scenic view, and the use of the fullscale and the grass runways to accommodate nearly any model aircraft, made for a perfect flying site. I will check their Facebook page to attend events in 2025.

Thanks, Jim, for this fine report about a welcoming club and a great place to fly.

In 2024, the District II CVF club acquired the use of the site above with a full-scale and grass runway on the Peet family’s farm in Vermont. The photo is from the club’s Warbirds Over Cornwall event in August 2024.

CVF’s inaugural event at its new site in District I was the Valley of the Giants, held on July 25-28, 2024. All of the pilots and spectators were impressed by the facility, camaraderie, and the flying fun they had.
