In the middle of an Indiana corn field three days out of the year is a battle to earn the title of the best of the best in 3-D aerobatics. Simple loops, knife edges, and inverted hovers pale in comparison to the stunts performed by the competitors.

15 fixed wing airplane pilots and 14 helicopter pilots were invited to compete to be crowned the best at the Extreme Flight Championships (XFC). The event was held June 12-14 at the International Aeromodeling Center (IAC) in Muncie, Indiana. 2015 marked XFC’s 13th year.

After three days of tough competition, great camaraderie, and a couple thunderstorms - two pilots eventually walked away victorious. Gabriel Altuz from Puerto Rico earned the title of airplane champion. Jamie Robertson from Oklahoma USA walked away with the helicopter title.
