Toledo 2012

In the words of the late John Worth: “Holy Toledo!” The Model Aviation staff has just returned from attending the 2012 Toledo Show. As always, it was a great show, with many new products displayed by vendors. There were also some really cool static displays for the Static competition, including a fire-breathing, turbine-powered dragon!

Saturday after the show, we celebrated the life of John Worth. Many of his awards and plaques, along with memorabilia from his travels, were on display, as a slide show played photos of his life. His daughter, Monica, was on hand, as were numerous friends, some of who told stories of their friendship with John.

I made my way down to the Electric Tournament of Champions (ETOC) Saturday night as well. These are some of the best-of-the-best pilots, including the Camp AMA instructors, R.J. Gritter and Nick Maxwell. All of the pilots were outstanding, going through not only known maneuvers, but freestyle sequences as well. This year also featured the Blade Helicopter Micro Invitational Challenge, and the E-X Games, an obstacle course challenge that was a lot of fun to watch.

Check out all of our photos and videos from the Toledo Show, ETOC, and the John Worth Celebration below.
